Here's a collection of abstract ambient industrial from Austrian artist Ewald Spiss.
1983 to 1992, Spiss issued many MC releases, some including collaboration performances with fellow artists Bernhard Kathan, Hermann Graber, Maurizio Bonato and Michael Bahn. Unfortunately, after having contributed to compilations on Nekrophile Rekords, Spiss stopped releasing his tapes because he regretted the association of his music with the destructive, sadistic, nihilistic black magic conceptions that permeated Nekrophile, and the fans/listeners who were attracted to that sort of destructive thinking and satanic imagery. Although Spiss admits to have been reading Aleister Crowley and Austin Osman Spare at the time, his main interest was the more positive writings of Christian, Buddhist and Indian mystic books... far from practicing black rituals. Although his soundworks sometimes conjured dark atmospheres and unnerving vibes, it was always his intention to also show the lighter 'spheres' of ambient music.
Resurfacing in 2007 as , Spiss has changed genres and now releases neo-folk on Ahnstern/Steinklang, and , gaining much more recognition and appreciation (which he so rightfully deserves) and, more importantly to him, having complete control over his image and the freedom to express his own messages.
